![]() At home/work I only scan every 10 minutes, but if I'm not connected to wifi (which means probably driving) I scan every 30 or 60 seconds. Then %Home gets set back to 0 when I'm off my home wifi for 10 minutes.Īlso, I adjust my tasker scanning interval when I'm home/not home. If I'm not home, it then sends a web request to ha to tell it I'm home (unlock door, turn on lights, etc) and turns on my wifi if off. Tasker setup is just looking for near bluetooth (1 for each beacon) and then I have a %Home variable. I will say my Samsung S6 couldn't see the BLE devices but my new S9+ can. I tried finding another locator app that also displayed a notification or could send a web request but there wasn't anything. ![]() I then have a few ibeacons in the house/garage and use tasker to locate them. Really don't have any false readings anymore. Sure! After much tinkering I've ended up using a bayesian sensor with nmap, ping and gpslogger. I can enable/disable the Dash button at a moment's notice, so it's worked out really well and is a lot more secure than giving her a code. When she leaves, she does the same to reverse the process. When she arrives, she presses the button and the system disarms/unlocks/turns on lights (if dark). For her I programmed access through an Amazon Dash button that she carries like a key fob. The only accommodation I've made for guests is the dog sitter, and it doesn't involve any beacons. My Leviton OmniPro II sees the "light" go on, disarms the security system, and unlocks the door. Home Assistant trips a Lutron "light" (really just a switch). The path of automation is this: OwnTracks reports presence to MQTT running on the Pi3 (Home Assistant). By the time I get out of my car and walk 25 paces, the security system is disarmed and the front door is unlocked. To give you a real-world example, I have some beacons that I think of as "exterior" - like the one in the garage which is at the front corner of the house where my driveway is. ![]() The speed of whatever happens after that, of course, depends on whatever gadgetry you involve in the automation. That part is pretty quick, maybe 3-5 seconds. ![]() In my situation, initial contact with a beacon is through OwnTracks on my iPhone. ![]()
